Today, I guess contents of Japanese “Manga” or animation are well-known all over the world. When I was a kid, I used to go to book store to buy mangas. All kids dream to be a hero, and manga makes it real while they read. I was like that. My favorite mangas were “Dragon Ball” and “Slam Dunk”. Both of managas were already finished, but I strongly remember their stories.
“Dragon Ball” is a story about the god of dragon, which makes our wish once people gather 7 balls all over the world.
The main character is “Goku”. This story is also about his growth. In the beginning he was strong but just a kid. Wherever he went to search for the balls, many enemies appeared. Sometimes enemies were too strong to fight, and each time he was excited and got stronger. He was my hero . I tried to be him. The moments I was quite excited.
“Slam Dunk” is about basketball as you guess. The main character, “Hanamichi”, was a high school student and beginner of basketball. He didn’t know anything about basketball, but he had amazing physical ability and mental strength. In the beginning his purpose was a girl, who really loved basketball. However he was devoted to basketball and dramatically improved. For me this manga is not just manga. It drew psychologic characterization of basketball players and meeting people.
I learned a lot of things related to my life. If you are interested in Japanese manga, these two are my recommendations.
